‘CfP’ – ‘Computers for Pupils’ and hopefully ‘Computers for Parents’

The Dearne High School is set to launch another extremely exciting combined pupil and adult learning project on Tuesday 5th June.  We are loaning over 60 students a Fujitsu P1610 life book for their remaining duration at the school.  (Providing it is well used and looked after!)  Staff at the Dearne will be training students and parents in how to use these tools from 9.30am until 11.30am.  Over 50 students and 50 parents replied in under 24 hours to say they were coming!

The event will provide a further opportunity to help more students complete higher quality homework and extra research for a range of subject areas.  The training morning will provide parents with ample opportunity to suggest their ideas about the future development of the project.  We expect their active involvement throughout.  The event will be photographed and videoed as part of our LPPA final verification evidence and will be properly edited for SSAT case study presentation in London in June and July on personalising learning.  Indeed the Dearne is possibly the first school in the country to share and publish work on the significant role of parents in enabling the personalising of learning through the use of new technologies.  We are one of the first schools in the country to be at implementation stage of the ‘CfP’ project and are delighted to have the endorsement of the Becta ICT Mark at the same time as we launch this event.
