Parent Evaluations of CfP

Another successful launch!

The school was able to launch phase 2 of Project Ecu with very helpful funding from the DfES’s ‘Computers for Pupils’ project.  We have already loaned 60 PDA’s and 80 MP3/4 players to students to support them with learning at home.  ‘Computers for Pupils’ funding has provided a further 75 UMPC’s to this list.  These were designated as being for long term loan, as opposed to short term, as in the case of the PDA’s and MP3/4 players.

The launch of the ‘Computers for Pupils’ project’ was extremely well supported.  There were only five spare seats out of the 120 provided!  Over sixty parents attended.  Well done to those who got both parents, or parents and grand parents to come.

Mr Lohan kindly took part in the event to offer an area wide perspective from Barnsley LA.  The school received very positive feedback indeed about the project from parents and pupils.  Many schools up and down the country are now asking us for help/consultancy/support with setting up similar projects in their area.

A time line with further project opportunities will soon be issued to parents.  We are keen to proceed with setting up internet connectivity ideally before the summer holidays.  That way we will not lose any momentum in making good use of these machines over the summer holiday/vacation.

The machines will be checked before the summer holidays at least once and will be examined again in the first week back after the holidays.  Parents will be notified of the next developments by letter in July.  Soon when families have internet connectivity they will be able to receive quicker communications via our website!
