KS3

Students study a programme designed to give them an understanding of British History, as both a separate entity and as part of the wider World Community. During this study, which takes students from Roman history to the era of the Cold War, we work hard to give our students the key skills of an historian – the ability to examine, interrogate and value sources, and the confidence to comment intelligently on them

KS4

our GCSE students currently study the United States of America between the World Wars, which takes into account the Great Depression and indicates the interdepence of all modern countries. At the same time, students are expected to produce the coursework element of their GCSE, which is related to a study of Nazi Germany. In Year Eleven, History students go on to examine the treaty of Versailles, the failure of the League of Nations and the steps to World War Two. The students have the opportunity to show of their historians’ skills at the end of their GCSE course by immersing themselves in our British ‘depth study’, which takes a good look at how British society changed from 1906 to 1918; including the fight for women’s suffrage, the liberal reforms and the changes to society that occurred on ‘The Home Front’ during the Great War.
