Key stage 3
The Core subjects are:
Mathematics, English, Science and I.C.T.
All students will also study:
Physical Education, Religious Education, Citizenship and Learning to Learn. |
The Foundation subjects are:
Technology, History, Geography, Music (Expressive Arts), Art and A Modern Foreign Language |
Year Seven
In Year 7 students are generally taught together by the form tutor for Citizenship and Learning to Learn. This enables pupils to develop relationships within the group and with the teacher. Subjects that need specialist facilities (such as Science, Technology, Expressive Arts) are taught by specialist staff. All subjects other than Expressive Arts place students into ability groups during Year 7. Student grouping may change in order to offer flexibility.
Years Eight and Nine
Setting is used extensively in all curriculum areas. Regular assessment may mean periodic changes in the groups. An additional language may be offered to the linguistically gifted.
