The Dearne High Stakeholders

During the last two years, there has been an enormous growth of active involvement from parents and the community within the Dearne High.  Vast numbers of parents have attended our: target setting/review days, family learning days, how to help my child revise evenings, consultation evenings, plays, celebratory events, ROA, new intake evenings and many other events.  Projects to improve learning get ever more exciting and inspirational, such as our recent launch of the ‘Computers For Pupils’ project.  This includes 60 paired students and parents sharing cutting edge hardware with internet access to gain ICT driven qualifications and access to learning content for the whole curriculum.  A further 15 pairs will join us in September.

The school has been working with Prospects for over a year now to develop and improve this work further.  The Leading Parent Partnership Award has helped inspire new innovations including:

Using parents in timetabled lessons
Introducing and extending adult and family learning opportunities
The development of our Parent/Pupil Gateway
The extensive loaning of a diverse range of ICT based hardware and learning content.

Above all, we hope that the process has helped us to monitor and evaluate our services to parents in a rigorous and systematic way.  That way we can constantly improve our inclusion of and provision for the parents who choose our school!
