Protocols For Visiting Parents

The Dearne High is a fully inclusive school.  Every effort is made to inspire, involve, and improve our partnership with parents.  We welcome high aspirations and tenacity between home and College to ensure excellent attendance, attainment and achievement.

Contacting The School:

If parents want to contact the College with any helpful ideas, questions, or issues arising, they should contact reception in the first instance on

If parents wish to request appointments with Form tutors, Heads of Faculty or Senior Teachers this should also be done through reception in the first instance.

If a significant matter has arisen, reception can contact the appropriate member of OASIS/SLT and book an appointment for same day contact.

In cases requiring an immediate/emergency response, reception will call for a member of the OASIS team or SLT to be available straight away.

Visiting the College:

Attendance at organised College events involving your son/daughter/ward requires your returned signature before the event.

All visitors should sign in at reception.  Visitor badges are available for adults in attendance throughout the day.  A member of the College’s teaching staff will accompany any such adult whilst the visiting adult is in contact with children.

CRB clearance is required before any adult can visit with the express purpose of working with children on a regular basis.  This is completed according to LA guidelines.  An initial visit to the College should take place to begin this process.

Conduct Within College:

All visitors must report to reception and sign in.

Subsequently:

Parents and adults are welcomed and expected to be role models to our students.

Their positive suggestions for improvement are received and responded to where possible.

Our College follows the Effective Complaints procedure.

We refuse to tolerate verbal or physical abuse towards anyone within the College community and act accordingly with regard to inappropriate behaviour.
